Church Trails

Our local churches – of all denominations – provide an immense source of knowledge of local art and history. It was therefore a logical outcome of the completion of our first Church Record of the Parish Church of St Mary and St Nicholas in Leatherhead to develop a 'Church Trail' for use by parents visiting the Church with their children as well as by casual or organised groups of other visitors.

The 'Trail' consists of an illustrated Questionnaire which leads the child or adult visitor around the Church, highlighting features of architectural or artistic interest which might otherwise be missed, together with an “Answer Sheet” which provides in words and pictures the historical background and cultural significance of what they have seen or discovered. The aim in all cases is to spark a lasting interest in architecture and the arts.

A Church Trail is designed for children aged 8 -12 but is really for people of all ages!
